About Brian Thomas Bounds
Born on April 14, 1965, in Fairbury, IL, Brian was the son of Thomas L. and Jane Rieger Bounds. A proud graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School’s Class of 1983, Brian continued his education at the University of Illinois, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics in 1987—a fitting choice for someone destined to carry on a proud farming tradition. In 1991, Brian married Rebecca Weber, the love of his life. Their marriage of nearly 34 years was one built on mutual respect, laughter, and the shared joys of raising a family. Together, they raised three children: Trent (Kylie) Bounds of Fairbury, Addison (Chloe) Bounds of Denver, CO, and Maddie Bounds of Nashville, TN. Brian was also the proud grandfather of Trip, Vivienne, Beau, and Callahan Bounds. His role as “Papa” was one he embraced wholeheartedly.
Fifth Generation Farmer and Community Steward
Brian was a fifth-generation farmer, a role he stepped into with passion and pride. His agricultural career began in 1991 as a District Sales Manager for Agrigold Seed, all while working part-time on the family farm. By 1996, he transitioned into farming full-time alongside his father, Tom, cementing his place in the family legacy. Brian was more than a farmer—he was a steward of the land and a trusted friend among the agricultural community. His deep knowledge of agronomy, his forward-thinking practices, and his love for the land shaped a lifetime of contributions to the farming community in and around Fairbury.
Those who knew Brian remember him for his love of fishing, especially trips to Canada with his sons and close friends. His happiest days were spent outdoors, whether working the fields, casting a line into a quiet lake, or floating in the pool with a Hefeweizen in hand—his signature way to relax. Brian also enjoyed good company and good conversation. His warm presence, dry wit, and easygoing nature made him a cherished friend to many. Whether catching up at the grain elevator, chatting over coffee, or swapping stories at family gatherings, Brian had a gift for making others feel welcome and heard.
Brian’s passing is deeply felt by his entire family, including his parents, Thomas and Jane Bounds, his brother Clint (Tanya) Bounds of Bloomington, IL, and sister Jennifer (David) Komor of St. Louis, MO. Together, they are joined in both grief and gratitude for the life Brian lived so fully. In honor of his memory, the family will hold a private gathering at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Fairbury on Saturday, June 7, 2025. A public Celebration of Life will take place the following day, Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, at Emancipation Brewing Company, located at 13113 North 2500 East Road, Fairbury, IL 61739.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society—two causes that reflect Brian’s spirit of generosity and compassion.
